I joined the James Lab in September 2023 as a Postdoctoral Researcher of the Partners in Tau Initiative. I am interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying tau pathology progression in Alzheimer’s disease and other tauopathies. It is known that rodent microglia can phagocytose and secrete tau, which could be contributing to tau transmission between interconnected brain regions. However, how human microglia uptakes, process and spread tau remains largely unexplored. By using human iPSC-derived microglia we aim to better understand the pathways involved in tau processing that could ultimately lead to the discovery of new therapeutic targets.

I obtained my BSc in Biotechnology at the University of Barcelona. Then, I did a MSc in Molecular Biology and Biomedicine, and the PhD in Neuroscience at the University Autonomous of Barcelona, where I studied molecular mechanisms underlying synapse dysfunction in mouse models of neurodegeneration.

Outside the lab I enjoy going to the theatre, music festivals and reading.
